Tour to the coffee plantations, tasting specialty coffee and learning about the organic coffee production processes with a Tzeltal, Mayan family.
Located just one hour from the city of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas, is a family from the Tzeltal Mayan culture who has been cultivating coffee naturally for more than 4 decades. It currently processes specialty coffee to give added value to the best beans from this region, so that the consumer can also obtain a healthy coffee for their palate and can enjoy the qualities that these beans should have. In the first instance, we arrive at Martha and Maribel's family home and they share a delicious breakfast with us, then if you visit between the months of December, January and February of each year, you will have the opportunity to harvest or participate in the cutting ripe coffee or red fruits and later learning more about the other processes such as the types of fermentation, washing, drying and grinding. We will practically take a tour of the plantations to learn about the varieties that are planted in this town or region and each person will leave (optional) planted a coffee bush. At the end you can get or take your coffee home if you prefer. You will also learn some history, its environmental values and the economic and cultural value that comes with producing coffee in the highland region of Chiapas.
