Visit the Karen Blixen Museum, the farmhouse where the author of "Out of Africa" lived between 1914 and 1931. Explore the colonial house and its expansive gardens, and see the lantern that Blixen hung on her veranda to let her lover, English hunter Denys Finch Hatton, know she was home.
Built in 1912 by Swedish Engineer Ake Sjogren, the house was once part of a farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills owned by Danish author Karen and her Swedish husband, Baron Bror von Blixen Fincke. Located 10 km from the city center, the farmhouse gained international fame with the release of the movie "Out of Africa," an Oscar-winning film based on Karen’s autobiography of the same title.
