Our walk begins by crossing the ancient walls of the city and religious center "Piazza dei Miracoli": a Unesco World Heritage Site, renamed as one of the most important centers of medieval art in the world, to continue in Via Santa Maria, an ancient road that connected the religious center with Piazza dei Cavalieri with its Church, the prestigious university "la normale" founded by Napoleon Bonaparte and the Gualandi Tower, where the famous Count Ugolino, one of the protagonists of Dante's Divine Comedy, died of hunger.
The visit continues through the ancient medieval district "Borgo stretto" up to the middle bridge from which you can enjoy the splendid view of the Lungarni with its ancient palaces rich in history, the food market, and the university area surrounded by surprising medieval towers.
By choosing the tower ticket option, you can go up to the top of the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa and enter its spectacular cathedral with skip-the-line access. After your experience, you will return to Livorno to board your ship.
