Etna in winter: hike to 3000 meters with cable car and guide

Explore all the main points of interest of Europe's highest active volcano, such as lava flows, craters, lava tunnel, and an incredible panoramic view of the Sicilian coastline.
The itinerary we propose will allow you, in a scenery that has no equal, to visit the most striking places that have seen the Southeast Crater, the youngest but the most active of Etna's four summit craters, the protagonist of the eruptions of recent months.

Meet at 9:30 am at the meeting point "La Baita 3L ski lab" at 1,900 meters above sea level, where our guide will be waiting for you.

Departure at 10:00 am.

The excursion includes a cable car ride up to 2,500 meters above sea level where, accompanied by our volcanological guide, you will reach about 3,000 meters above sea level.
From this altitude you will be able to admire the view of Etna's imposing summit craters in all their grandeur (Central Crater divided into Bocca Nuova and Voragine - Southeast Crater - Northeast Crater) and the craters of the volcano's most recent eruptions, as well as pass through a lava flow tunnel of about 200 meters.
After visiting the base of the summit area and in particular the sites of the most recent eruptions, you will continue the descent on foot,
crossing the sites of other recent eruptions and the depression of the Bove Valley, from which you will enjoy a panoramic view of the Ionian coast (Aeolian Islands and Calabria).

Return to the starting point by cable car.
This hike takes about 4 hours and 30 minutes round trip.
