Sembalun/Senaru: Mt. Rinjani Summit 2-Day Trekking Tour

Trek to the summit of Mt. Rinjani on this 2-day hiking tour from Sembalu or Senaru. Discover one of Indonesia’s highest peaks, get panoramic views of the island below, and enjoy breakfast at the top.
Day 1
Get picked up from your hotel in Senaru or Sembalun and have some breakfast before driving about an hour to Semablun Village. Once you arrive, register at Rinjani Information Center (RIC) and start your 2-hour trek to POS-1 (1,300 meters).

Take a rest for 5-10 minutes, then continue walking to POS-2 (1,500 m) for about an hour. Take another short break, then continue trekking to POS-3 (1,800 meters) for another hour.

We rest for 2 hours at POS-3 and have lunch with a hot drink such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate, or lemon tea. After lunch and a rest, continue trekking to Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639 meters) for about 3 hours. Spend the night on the Sembalun Crater Rim. Enjoy stunning panoramic views of the sunset, Segara Anak lake, and most of North Lombok Island.

Day 2
We will wake up at 1:30 in the morning with coffee or tea and a light breakfast. After you have eaten, we will begin the trek to the summit for sunrise.

Normally, the trek to the summit takes around 3 hours, depending on how fast we go. We will be trekking in the dark, so it’s important to have a flashlight for this section. The trek to the summit has many sections that are sand and gravel and some of the most tiring of the trek but our guides will be with you the whole way to help you.

During this time, you will be rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of Bali, Sumbawa, and all of Lombok and the Gilis. Once we’ve reached the summit of Mt.Rinjani at 3,726 meters, we will take time for a short break and photos.

Upon returning to the crater rim campsite after the summit our porters will have breakfast prepared and waiting for you. After breakfast, we will begin the journey back down to Sembalun Village.
