Debrecen and Hortobágy Park: Day Tour from Budapest

Begin the day with a scenic walk through Debrecen, one of the most vivid and coziest nooks in Hungary. Visit the lovely Petőfi Square, and the famous Piac Street (which holds many sights including the Alföld Palace, the City Hall, the Csokonai Theater, and the Small White Church). Stroll down Hatvan Street to the Bishop’s Palace, and visit the nearby St. Andrew Church, Red Tower and Reformed College. Say goodbye to Debrecen in Nagyerdő ("Great Forest”), and head over to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Hortobágy National Park. Visit the famous Nine-Span-Bridge, the Herdsmen’s Museum, and the Mátai Stud, take a horse carriage tour in the "puszta," and get introduced to the agricultural traditions of he region. End this lovely tour with a traditional Hungarian lunch in an authentic "csárda" or tavern.
