Temple of Poseidon and Cape of Sounio sunset tour:
You will drive along the south coast to the Athenian Riviera, which will allow you to easily reach the otherwise hard-to-get-to Sounion. Once there, you will be dazzled by the famous landscapes that surround Sounion. In the times of the ancient Greeks, this site was revered as sacred ground dedicated to the gods Poseidon and Athena. You can marvel at the Temple of Poseidon, which perched upon the cliff’s edge 70 meters above the sea. Later, walk the blessed earth of Sounion, one of the places sung about it in Homer’s Odyssey.
You can then stand upon the same cliff where it is said King Aegeus threw himself off. The tale is told in Greek mythology that Aegeus told his son Theseus that if he defeated the Minotaur, he should return to Athens with ships bearing white sails. Theseus forgot this request, and when Aegeus saw Theseus’ black sails, he threw himself from the Sounion in despair. While here, you can watch the sunset over this legendary horizon.

Please select one of the three meeting points and inform the activity provider: 1) Omonoia square, in front of the Hondos center department store (stop A12 of the hop-on-hop-off bus); 2) Syntagma Square/Old parliament (stop A1); 3) Plaka area, in front of Melina Merkouri statue (stop A2).
Please be at the meeting point at least 15 minutes before the tour departure time. Look for a the blue signage at the stops that read "Sights of Athens.'
Hop on Hop off bus departure points are as follows: Syntagma Square, Greek Parliament, Acropolis, Plaka, Monastiraki square, Omonoia Square, Karaiskaki Square, Archaeological Museum, Piraeus Cruise Terminals.
