Start your tour with a visit to Le Parc des Hauteurs, a park on the Fourvière hilltop with secret gardens and shady paths. Enjoy a great panorama of the whole city of Lyon and discover the park's areas, such as the Loyasse cemetery, the Visitation garden, and the Rosaire garden.

Close to the Parc des Hauteurs, the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière is an impressive mix of Romanesque and Byzantine architecture. There, see a bell tower topped with a gilded statue of the Virgin Mary, and marvel at the interior of mosaics and magnificent stained glass.

Next, visit the Maison du Chamarrier, the area's first Renaissance building when it was built in 1498. Admire the unique entrance canopy's pinnacle turret, similar to those of Gothic churches, and the large, ornamented, and Gothic spiral staircase.

Explore the Lyon Cathedral or the Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste, a Roman Catholic church that has been standing since the 15th century. See the church's beautiful artifacts, including two crosses from the 13th century and the famous Lyon Astronomical Clock from the 14th century.

Hidden by Lyon Cathedral, le Jardin Archéologique contains the remains of Saint Etienne and Sainte Croix churches from the 4th and 16th centuries. Look at the relics of these buildings, which along with the cathedral formed the core of the first Christian communities here, and the Gallo-Roman spas.

Next, see the La Maison des Avocats, a beautiful example of a Renaissance-style house. Continue to the Court of Appeal of Lyton, often called the Palace of the 24 Columns, where Klaus Barbie was put on trail and sentenced for crimes against humanity in 1987. The tour ends here.
