The National Museum of Ethiopia is a great place to start your visit because of the high quality and variety of its exhibits. The 3.5 million-year-old hominoid fossil of Lucy (or Dinkinesh, meaning "wonderful" in the indigenous tongue) from the Australopithecus Afarensis species is on display at the museum. Our ancestors were likely walking about 2.5 million years before previously thought, according to a reevaluation of human family trees prompted by the 1974 finding of Lucy's fossil. Additionally, the National Museum has a plethora of priceless relics from pre-Axumite times.
