From Salou: Scaladei Charterhouse, lunch and wines

Explore Priorat with a visit to the historic Carthusian monastery of Scala Dei, enjoy lunch at a Catalan farmhouse and finish at the Scala Dei winery, learning about its winemaking tradition and tasting wines.
We will start our trip from your hotel in Salou, Cambrils or Tarragona at the agreed time, heading towards our first stop, the Carthusian monastery of Scala Dei. The tour will take approximately 1 hour.
The Carthusian monastery of Scala Dei, founded in 1163, was the first Carthusian monastery in the Iberian Peninsula and is one of the most important historical sites in the Priorat region. During our visit, we will explore the ruins of the monastery, touring the exterior of the three cloisters, the church and the refectory, as well as a reconstructed cell in detail. This visit will allow us to learn about the history and origins of the Priorat region.
We will continue our journey to a traditional Catalan farmhouse to enjoy a delicious lunch. The masia, a typical Catalan farmhouse, will offer us an authentic gastronomic experience, with dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients.
After our lunch, we will head to the Scala Dei winery, one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in Priorat. Founded in the 12th century by Carthusian monks, this winery has maintained the winemaking tradition over the centuries and is known for its excellent wines. Its history is closely linked to the Carthusian monastery of Scala Dei. The winery is located in the former house of the procurator, who managed the monastery's lands and produced the Carthusian wine.
You will learn about the winemaking process, from harvesting to bottling. The tour visits both rooms, with an explanation of the history of the winery and the Priorat. The visit will culminate with a tasting of four wines, where you can taste different varieties of wines from the winery.
Finally, we will return to Salou, Cambrils or Tarragona, completing a day full of history, culture, flavors and breathtaking landscapes. We will drop you off at your hotel, concluding a day full of discoveries and unforgettable experiences.
