If you're visiting Guatapé and the Rock, why not get the most of the trip and visit other beautiful areas and landscapes in the region just by taking a different road?
After being picked up from your Medellin hotel in private transportation, head to the enchanting east side of the city. Pass through the longest tunnel in South America, offering a unique experience as you make your way to one of the most picturesque regions in Antioquia.
Witness a mesmerizing transformation in the landscape, as the bustling cityscape gradually gives way to colorful little farms hidden throughout the Andes mountains. Stop at Alto del Chocho, a typical restaurant surrounded by stunning scenery, renowned for its delicious pan de queso (cheese rolls).
Then, pass by El Peñol, a town that rose from the ashes after a big flooding in the 1970s. Learn how the original town was completely submerged but the community rebuilt on higher ground, giving birth to the "Phoenix of America," a testament to the human spirit and the power of community.
Next, stop at the magnificent El Peñol Rock, a rock formation that reaches an impressive height of 650 feet. If you’re adventurous, conquer the 740 stairs leading to the top for an amazing panorama of the surrounding landscapes.

If you wish to climb the 740 stairs to El Peñol Rock, some of which are steep and tight, bring comfortable shoes and prepare for a workout! The highest point is 2000 meters above sea level, so if you live by the shore or ocean level, you could take a little longer.
If you're staying outside of Medellín, please meet at El Poblado Station, where the taxis and buses park, right underneath the station. If you wish to get picked up from outside the El Poblado area, it would cost extra.
