After breakfast at your hotel, leave Siem Reap for Battambang. Along the way, visit the Sangker Riverbank, Battambang Provincial Hall, Psah Nat, Bamboo Train, and Phnom Sambov steeped in legend, and topped by Wat Sampeou and a group of caves used as “Killing Caves” by the Khmer Rouge.
Visit Ek Phnom, an 11th-century Angkorian ruin built as a Hindu temple under Suryavarman 1. Drive through the city and see the French colonial era footprint in the facade of the town houses, many of which are receiving a well-deserved facelift.
Experience the lush green countryside outside Battambang on the famous Bamboo Train. When two trains meet, the one with a lighter load must dismantle and make way for the other. Stop at an orange plantation before reaching the impressive Banan Temple on the top of a hill with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
