One of the most famous and sought after tours for those who spend their holidays in Rio de Janeiro is certainly the tropical islands on the south coast of the state.
The archipelago together with the splendid colonial town of Paraty have recently been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and it is enough to spend a single day in these places to understand the reason. The luxuriant nature, the transparent blue sea, the fine sandy beaches and many fish and dolphins that swim calmly near the moored boats. The ideal mix to feel in a true tropical paradise.
The largest of the islands in the archipelago (365 in total!) is Ilha Grande and it is precisely here that you'll pass this day tour. You'll discover some beaches on the island and you'll be able to spend a time in the pleasant village of Abraão with its historical and natural points.
After reaching the island with a 'fast boat' (journey time about 20 minutes), you can organise your day as you wish, choosing to take a walk to get to know the beaches closest to Abraão and thenr to go on a small guided tour through the lush tropical forest or viceversa. In the afternoon you will then take the 'fast boat' back to the mainland and then, by private transport, to Rio de Janeiro.
