From Puno | Tour to La Paz and Tiwanaku

A short distance from Puno, lies the cultural and historical heart of Bolivia. Cross the border and explore this excursion to La Paz and Tiwanaku to discover it for yourself
Itinerary:
We will meet at your hotel in Puno at 4:00 a.m. Be sure to get up early, it will be worth it! We will depart for the border between Peru and Bolivia at Desaguadero, from where we will enter Bolivia and drive to its capital.

After a four-hour road trip, we will arrive in La Paz and start with a guided tour of the colonial quarter, 16 de Julio Avenue and Mariscal Santa Cruz Avenue. A visit to the historic district to explore the 16th century church of San Francisco, the neoclassical cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Paz and the Murillo square is not to be missed.

Then you will have free time for lunch on your own. We will continue visiting the Santo Domingo convent and the Witches Market, known for its mystical and esoteric objects.

After exploring La Paz, we will return by bus to the archaeological site of Tiwanaku, an outstanding center of pre-Columbian culture in Bolivia. We will tour its impressive constructions such as the temple of Kalasasaya, the Akapana pyramid and the Sun Gate. We will also see the ceremonial queros and the walls decorated with huaco-portraits, revealing fascinating details about the Tiwanaku empire that extended through the central Andes to Lake Titicaca.

By the end of the day, you will gain an in-depth understanding of Bolivia's rich culture and heritage. Afterwards, we will cross the border back into Peru and you will arrive in Puno between 14:00 and 15:00.
