UYUNI SALT FLAT 4 DAYS 3 NIGHTS VILLA MAR ROUTE

Salar de Uyuni offers an alternative route to discover other types of places such as the mysterious lagoon, the World Cup and the famous Anaconda Canyon.
Day 1

Departure from the meeting point at 06:30 in a shared minibus for 1 hour to the border. We proceed with the exit procedure at the Chilean customs and head to Hito Cajón, where the Bolivian border is located. We will enjoy a full breakfast at the border. Once in Bolivian territory, we will change to a 4×4 jeep to start the route. In a few minutes, we will arrive at our first stop, Laguna Blanca, followed by Laguna Verde, located at the foot of the majestic Licancabur Volcano. We continue north until we reach the Salvador Dalí desert. The route continues until we reach the Polques River, where we will have the opportunity to enjoy a comforting bath in its hot springs. We reach the highest point on the entire route, the Sol de Mañana Geysers at 4,960 m.a.s.l.

At the end of the day, we will visit Laguna Colorada, where we will enjoy a spectacular landscape inhabited by flamingos and other Andean birds. The first night will be spent in Villa Mar, a refuge located at 3,900 m.a.s.l.

Day 2

On this second day of the journey, we will explore different rock formations and canyons, visit the Italia Perdida sector, where famous formations such as the Copa del Mundo or the Camello are found, and the Laguna Misteriosa.

We will go trekking with unique landscapes in the Catal Canyon (or Anaconda Canyon due to its elliptical formation). After visiting the Valley of Rocks, we will arrive at the Catal Valley, inhabited by indigenous communities dedicated to the breeding of llamas and alpacas. We will visit the town of San Agustín to conclude the day at the salt hostel in Puerto Chuvica.

DAY 3

DEPARTURE FROM THE SALT HOSTEL AT 05:00 AM. On the third day of the tour we will enter the Salar de Uyuni, a place full of beauty to witness the sunrise. We will travel through the vast white expanse of salt, visit the large Incahuasi Island and take a hike to the top of the island to observe giant cacti and rock formations of petrified coral. We will enjoy time to take fun photos with perspectives on the white surface of the salt flat. Then, we will visit the Ojos del Salar and a Salt Museum, made entirely of salt. We will conclude the tour by visiting the small town of Colchani and the Train Cemetery before arriving in the City of Uyuni at 2:00 pm.

After a 2-hour break in the city of Uyuni, we will continue the journey back to San Pedro de Atacama, where we will spend our last night at the Villa Mar Hostel.

DAY 4

Departure: 5:00 / Transfer from Villa Mar, Hito Cajón (Chile-Bolivia border), transfer by minibus to San Pedro de Atacama.
