Day 1: Flight from Addis Ababa - Shire

Begin your journey by taking a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Shire. From there, we'll drive 60 KM to Axum and check into your hotel. Our first stop in Axum is a city tour of the ancient city, where you'll visit historical sites such as the King Ezana's Stele, the Tomb of King Kaleb, the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion and Queen of Sheba’s Bath and so on. Overnight Axum in hotel.

Day 2 Axum - Hawzen

On the second day of our tour, we'll visit the temple of Yeha, one of the best-preserved pre-Aksumite structures in Ethiopia. This ancient site flourished between the 8th and 9th centuries BC and gives us valuable insights into the country's rich history and culture. We'll also explore the Debre Tsion Abune Abreham Monastery, which is known for its beautiful frescoes and religious significance. Later in the day, we'll make our way to Yohannes Makudi, one of the early Ethiopian Coptic Christian churches, which is nestled between towering sandstone cliffs and can only be accessed via a narrow cleft.

Day 3, Korkor Mountains

On day three, after a delicious breakfast, we will take a 2-hour trek to the Mariam Korkor Monastery, which dates back to the 3rd century. After visiting the monastery, you can take a short walk to the Abba Daniel's Prayer Room, a small rock church. Later in the day, we will drive back to Hawzen to rest and recharge. Overnight accommodation will be provided in Hawzen.

Day 4 Hawzen - Mekelle

On Day 4, you'll explore the impressive Abuna Yemeta Guh rock-hewn church before heading back to Mekelle.
