Begin your tour with a visit to the Red Terror Museum. Established in 2010, this hallowed sanctuary serves as a poignant homage to the countless victims of the Red Terror, a dark epoch known as “Qey Shibir” in the Amharic language, which cast its malevolent shadow over Ethiopia between 1977 and 1978.
Next, visit the St. George Cathedral and Museum. Commissioned by Emperor Menelik II to commemorate his stunning 1896 defeat of the Italians in Adwa, and dedicated to St. George (Ethiopia’s patron saint), whose icon was carried into the battle, this Piazza cathedral is one of Addis' most beautiful churches.
Continue to the Ethnological Museum. Set within Haile Selassie’s former palace, and surrounded by the beautiful gardens and fountains of the university’s main campus, is the enthralling Ethnological Museum.
Finally, visit Unity Park. The Unity Park of Ethiopia is one of the most modern and multi-faceted tourist attractions in the country. The Ethiopian Unity Park is in the compound of the National Grand Palace, which is at Arat kilo in Addis Ababa.
