11 Days Historical Sightseeing tours

You will have the opportunity to see the historical sites of Ethiopia, Amazing Natures and Cultures.
Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa and City Tour
Upon arrival at Bole International Airport you will be met by Ethio Backpacker Tours representative and be taken to your reserved hotel. Depending on your arrival time, we have various sightseeing options:
Day 2: Addis Ababa – Debre Libanos (134 km)
After breakfast we cross the Entoto mountain, with the best views over the capital Addis Ababa. We continue towards North crossing the plains of Sululta until reaching Debre Libanos (approx. 3 hrs.).
Day 3: Addis Ababa – Bahir Dar ( Flight)
at the morning take a short flight to Bahir dar and our representatives will pick you at the airport and transfer to your hotel.
Day 4: Full Day in Bahir Dar
In the morning, we will go on a boat trip on lake Tana to explore the nearby monastery of Ura Kidane Mihret on the Zege peninsula, known for its 14th century, round, grass-roofed churches and their magnificent wall murals, the Azoa Mariam and Ura Kidane Mihret churches.
Day 5: Bahir Dar – Gondar (170 km)
After breakfast we drive to Gondar, a 17th century royal city of Ethiopia. After lunch, we will visit to the royal enclosures of Fassil Ghibe and all the castles of the Gonderian emperors as well as the famous Debre Berhan Selassie Church, which is completely covered in murals, with the angels’ faces on the wooden ceiling that have become a trademark of Ethiopian art and design.
Day 6: Drive (3 hrs) Gondar - Sankaber (3250 m). Hike Sankaber to Gich (3600 m) We drive from Gondar to Sankaber with a brief stop at the Simien Mountains National Park headquarters to arrange the permit.
Today's trek covers a distance of approximately 12km and takes around 5-6 hours.
Day 7: Hike Gich to Chennek (3620 m).
Today we hike 7-8 hours to cover 12 km, including a short detour to Imet Gogo (3925 m). Chennek is the best place to spot the endemic and endangered walia ibex. Not seldom they walk into the camp. Overnight camping.
Day 8: Hike Chennek to Ras Bwahit (4430 m). Drive (4 hrs) to Gondar
Total hike is 10 km, 5-6 hrs. Besides the walia ibex you have a change in seeing the even more endangered Ethiopian wolf. Late afternoon we drive back to Gondar.
Day 9 : Fly Gonder to Lalibela
At the morning after breakfast a short flight to Lalibela and our representatives will pick you at the airport and transfer to your hotel.
Day 10: Full Day in Lalibela
We will visit the 11-renowned rock hewn churches of Lalibela. The first group of six churches lies in rock cradles, one behind the other: Bet Golgotha, Bet Mikeal, Bet Mariam, Bet Maskel, Bet Dangal and Bet Medhanealem. Bet Medhanealem, the largest rock hewn church in the world is built like a Greek temple. After lunch, we will visit to the second group of churches Bet Emanuel, Bet Mercurios, Bet Aba Libanos and Bet Gabriel and Rufeal.
Day 11: Lalibela – Addis Ababa (FLight)
Early in the morning, we will visit the interesting cave monastery of Ne’akuto Le’ab outside of Lalibela, which is located on the way to Lalibela Airport.
