Sweden
Sweden is bigger than you think and depends on which part of the country you are in, there are some amazing things to see. Sweden is one of my favourite countries in the world, from the frozen lands of the rugged West Coast to the picturesque islands of the Stockholm Archipelago. Stockholm, a pretty city on fourteen islands has lots to offer: it is Sweden's capital and largest city in Scandinavia.
Sweden's tourist attractions range from opulent palaces and ancient cities to vast arctic landscapes and famous ice hotels. Sigtuna, Sweden’s oldest city is more than 1,000 years old and has been preserved as a charming medieval town centre with picturesque shops, numerous restaurants, and cafés. Malmö, Sweden's second largest city, is a diverse place in a country with an artistic atmosphere, with many cool parks, shops, and museums.
The top spot in Sweden is the beautiful Stockholm Archipelago, a marine landscape with more than 30,000 islands, islets, and archipelagos, of which only about 1,000 are inhabited. One of the most fantastic parts of Stockholm and Sweden is how many there are in the archipelago. As in many major cities in Sweden, everything revolves around new and old cities.
Stockholm, the largest capital of Sweden, is widely admired as one of the most beautiful capitals of Scandinavia. Situated in the south-east of Sweden, the city spans a variety of islands and rocky islands connected by charming old bridges and modern dams. Stockholm s Lush green parks, world-class attractions and a mix of historical and modern architecture make it an attractive tourist destination.
One of the best places in Stockholm for those who consider themselves royal observers is a visit to Stockholm's Grand Palace. The palace is located in the old town overlooking the city and is the official residence of the Swedish monarchy. On a kayak tour through the archipelago near the city centre you can get a distinct perspective on all the things to see and do in Stockholm.
Sweden is one of those countries that needs little introduction for those who want to visit a cool city, and Stockholm is just that. In a poll of 33%, Swedes chose Gamla Stan, Stockholm's old city centre, as one of the most beautiful places in the country. Sweden is the most sustainable city in the world and a very welcoming city where you will find new friends during your summer trip.
Drottningholm Castle, just a boat ride away, is one of the best places in Sweden and the world. With other amazing castles scattered across the country, this is a good place to visit in Sweden if you love history. Our local travel experts are based in Sweden capital Stockholm and have insider knowledge of the best places and activities in Sweden.
An astonishing 43% of the more than 2,500 Swedes who took part in a study called Samhallsbarometer (the society's barometer) replied that the archipelago of Stockholm is the most beautiful to visit in Sweden. The result is 190 km of charming towns, tasty food, hilly countryside, and some of the best bike paths in the country. Sweden undoubtedly has a large coastline, but the best place to observe the sea lines under protected conditions is the Kosterhavet National Park
No matter where you plan to visit, hiking is one of the best things in Sweden during winter and summer. You may want to leave the city and explore some of the national parks and nature reserves in the west of the country. And given the many good things to see in Sweden outside of the big cities, having your own car gives you absolute freedom to go anywhere in Sweden.
The Sarek National Park in Swedish Lapland is one of Sweden's best places to explore if you love nature. Kungsleden is Sweden's longest and best-known hiking trail ideal for cross-country skiing in winter, while the warmer months are ideal to explore the Scandinavian Mountain ranges.
