Opis
Starting as a Phoenician colony called Xera about 3,000 years ago, the city was Ceret under Roman rule, and Sheres or Xeres when it became an Arabic fortress. Under Catholic rule, it prospered greatly by trading its famous wines with England. The Muslims left a deep mark on the town, as the medieval Alcázar and the Mosque attest. Within the walled enclosure of the Mosque, visitors can also find the Arab Baths and the Olive Garden, with its cisterns and fountains. The Baroque palace of Villavicencio, built upon the ruins of an Islamic palace, has the city's tallest tower, which allows visitors to view landmarks through a camera obscura. The 15th century Church of Santiago houses works attributed to La Roldana. Visitors can get a closer look at the local culture at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, or lunch with tapas and sherry.
The trip will begin in a private vehicle with air conditioning through the rural area of the province of Cádiz while traveling to Jerez de la Frontera, famous for its horses and the production of Sherry wine. Upon arrival in the city you will take a guided tour with a local guide in one of the most historic cities through its old town. Starting at the majestic Plaza del Arenal, a reference center in Jerez, a few meters later you will contemplate one of the most important churches and famous for the weddings that take place there, The church of San Miguel, we will walk to the old Alcazar without losing any luxury of details on our way to the cathedral such as the statue of Manuel Maria, founder of the Tio Pepe wineries, one of the most visited wineries in the world. We can also admire some of the palace houses such as the Bertemati palace house, and shortly after walking through Plaza Plateros, one of the most lively squares in the city as well as the most relevant streets, La Porvera that will leave us directly in the food market and try their fresh and local products, there will be more than enough time to take your picture in El Gallo Azul, possibly one of the most emblematic buildings in Jerez.
Then, you will delight in the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, where you will contemplate an authentic equestrian show.
Then you will meet the winemaker host who will immerse you in the history of the wineries where sherry is produced,
and you will discover why Jerez wine is so special. You will have the opportunity to try an exquisite selection of sweet and dry sherry classes in a unique environment.
