If you are a wildlife enthusiast, then Chitwan National Park is the place, we should not miss to visit in Nepal. CNP is famous for being the best wildlife-viewing national park in Asia.
Chitwan is a spectacular drawcard when it comes to city tours in Nepal. The World Heritage Site, Chitwan National Park, is the home of a massive animal population and protects more than 932 sq. km of grasslands and forests. Considered amongst Asia’s best national parks for observing wildlife, Chitwan National Park is the home to the rare one-horned rhinos, Royal Bengal tiger, leopard, monkeys, deer, wild elephant, and more than 500 species of birds. With activities like jungle safari, bird watching, Tharu dance, and elephant showers, Chitwan brings a divergent experience. Chitwan National Park was a hunting site for the Royal Family of Nepal previously which was converted into a preserved park in 1973 and listed as a UNESCO heritage site in 1984.

Itinerary:

Day 1 : Drive to Chitwan. (415m/1,362ft)

After breakfast, we depart for our wildlife adventure to Chitwan. The 5-6-hour drive via Mugling-Narayanghat road beholds more scenic views and a vibrant atmosphere of the plains. Upon arriving at Chitwan, we checked in to our resort.
After Lunch, a Village tour to a nearby ethnic Tharu village, where you will learn more about the life and lifestyle of the Tharus. Visit the National Park visitor’s center where you can learn more about the history of the National Park and about wildlife & sunset view from the bank of Rapti River. In the evening, we go to see the Tharu Cultural Dance Program performed by the Tharus which will be another highlight of your visit to Chitwan. The Tharus in colourful traditional costumes unique in their disparity with the common mode of dress all over Nepal, are sure to captivate you.

Meals: Lunch and Dinner.



Day 2 Wildlife Activities at Chitwan. (415m/1,362ft)

On this day, we explore the wilderness of Chitwan with a full day of jungle activities. We will go for a Canoe ride along the Rapti River for bird watching and to see the 2 rare species of crocodiles; the Marsh Mugger and the fish-eating Gharial. On the way back, we can enjoy the elephant bathing view. After Lunch, we go for a Jeep safari inside Chitwan National Park where we can get an excellent opportunity to see four different kinds of deer, rhinoceros, wild boar, monkey, leopard, sloth bear, and the Royal Bengal Tiger (If you are lucky). You will also encounter many smaller mammals that have made Chitwan their home.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.



Day 3 Drive back to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

On this day, after breakfast, we retrace our scenic route back to Kathmandu.
