Chisinau is a historic city centre with a rich architectural heritage.
The city of Chisinau is an extremely cultural and interesting place to visit, with plenty to do and places to see. One reason you might want to stay for several days in Chisinau, Moldova is to explore all the parks. The parks are nice, lively surroundings, a very attractive spot of the Chisinau city. Valea Morilor park is an excellent destination for you to visit to enjoy your time in Chisinau.
Just ten minutes away from Chisinau city centre -- but worlds away -- you will find the beloved Valea Morilor Park, easily one of the prettiest places to visit in Moldova (formally, Bessarabia). Located in central Chisinau, the National Moldovan Museum is an excellent place to visit for a little background information about Moldova and the city of Chisinau. Right in the centre of Moldova’s capital, right outside of the building in the centre of town called National Assembly, you will find the National Museum of History of Moldova. Being the capital city of Moldova, obviously, it is not surprising that this museum is in the city’s capital, Chisinau.
You can see one of those lovely old churches in the middle of Chisinau, a wooden Dormition Church of the Mother Mary from Hyrincius, that has been turned into an ethnographic museum. You do not find as many churches downtown in Chisinau, but there are certainly more religious sites than just the Cathedral of the Nativity. In the very centre of Chisinau, between the cathedral and the government house, you will find The Triumphal Arch, which is one of Chisinaus most popular attractions.
Home of the History Museum in Chisinau (which is totally unworthy of seeing unless you read Romanian), the actual reason to visit Chisinau Water Tower is for its spectacular views of the city and the lake -- and it is particularly romantic at dusk. What Chisinau lacks in grand monuments and museums, it makes up for with the authentic markets and the real urban life that you get to experience there. While I really spent most of my time in Chisinau (work restrictions) there is a lot more to see than just the capital.
There are certainly many more things to see in Chisinau... the synagogue and Jewish centre, multiple parks and museums, multiple churches, certainly enough to keep you busy for a few days. Milestii Mici, St. Stephens Cel Mare park, the Victory Memorial and Eternal Flame, National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, the Nasterea Bucuresti Cathedral are a few places people might get a taste of the best things to do in Chisinau capital.
Recently renovated, Chisinaus National Fine Art Museum is one of the best-hidden gems of the whole of Moldova (formally Bessarabia). Farmers markets throughout the USSR were usually must-visit attractions, and Chisinau is no exception.
