Tunisia: 7-day tour from North to South

From north to south, a tour that will reveal the secret of Tunisia's charm, which is none other than this blend of contemporary and Berber life.
Day 1: arrival, welcome at the airport by your guide and transfer to a city hotel in the capital. Free time for rest, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Departure for a guided adventure to discover the oriental charm of the medina's lively souks. Visit to the ancient site of Carthage, then on to Sidi Bou Saïd, a picturesque village of Arab-Andalusian architecture.
Arrive at your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Visit to Kairouan, "the city of 300 mosques". Kairouan is the oldest Muslim city in North Africa. Discover the ancient fortress-like Sidi Sahbi and Okba mosques, the ramparts and the Aghlabid basins, the city's former water reservoirs. Then lunch. Stroll through the medina nestled inside the ramparts and visit to a weaving workshop.
Continue towards the desert, heading for Tozeur.

Day 4: Breakfast and visit to the medina with its brick facades typical of the region, followed by a visit to the palm grove fed by over 200 springs. After lunch, you have the choice of visiting the Museum of Traditions, which houses a collection of art objects from the 17th to the 20th centuries, or taking the 4*4 for an unforgettable escapade among the sand dunes to discover Chebika and Tamerza, mountain villages that have lived to the rhythm of their oases for almost 2000 years, yet have preserved their traditional architecture. Around sunset, you'll reach Ong Jmal in the middle of the Sahara by 4*4. Ong Jmal is best known for having been the setting for several scenes in George Lucas' famous "Star Wars" saga. Every year, the site welcomes many tourists and festivals such as the Electronic Dunes Festival. Return to Tozeur for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Breakfast and departure for Douz and matmata via Chott El Djerid, an immense dry salt lake famous for its breathtaking mirages.
Arrival in Douz, free time for camel riding or quad biking.
Continuation to matmata, an astonishing Berber village of troglodyte houses dug into the ground, giving the landscape a truly lunar appearance. Visit to the site and a Berber house.
Arrival at the hotel in Matmata, dinner and overnight stay.
6th day: El jem, Monastir, Sousse
Breakfast and drive north to El Jem, a veritable stone vessel in the middle of an arid steppe. Visit the Colosseum, 35 m high and able to seat 35,000 spectators, the first largest Roman monument in Africa and the 2nd largest amphitheatre in the Mediterranean.
Lunch and departure for Monastir The city is famous for its mosques and religious buildings, lively medina and souks, mausoleum and forts. Continuation to Sousse. Night tour for early departures.
Day 7: Visit the city, its medina and ElKantaoui port. Afternoon transfer to the airport for departure.
