Day 1: Rongai Gate to Simba Camp

Spend a day at Mawenzi Tarn Camp for acclimatization.
Take short hikes around the campsite to higher elevations and then return for rest.

Day 6: Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Hut
Elevation: 4,330 m (14,206 ft) to 4,700 m (15,420 ft)

Trek across the lunar-like landscape of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. Arrive at Kibo Hut, your last camp before the summit attempt. Rest and prepare for the challenging ascent ahead.
Day 7: Summit Day - Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak, then descend to Horombo Hut
Elevation: 4,700 m (15,420 ft) to 5,895 m (19,341 ft) and down to 3,720 m (12,205 ft)
Distance: Approximately 6 km (3.7 miles) ascent, 15 km (9.3 miles) descent
Hiking Time: 6-8 hours to the summit, 5-6 hours descent to Horombo Hut

Begin the summit attempt in the early hours of the morning. Reach Gilman's Point on the crater rim, then continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
Day 8: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate, then transfer to Moshi
