Day 1: The trek typically begins at Machame Gate (1,800 meters) in the lush rainforest zone. Hikers register at the gate before starting their ascent through dense vegetation.

Day 2: The trail continues through the rainforest, gradually gaining altitude as it winds up to Shira Camp (3,505 meters). This day offers stunning views of Mt. Meru and the Shira Plateau.

Day 3: Hikers leave Shira Camp and ascend to Lava Tower (4,640 meters), where they can experience high-altitude trekking before descending to Barranco Camp (3,960 meters) for overnight stay.

Day 4: The route takes trekkers up the Barranco Wall, a challenging but exhilarating climb that rewards with panoramic views. The trail then descends into Karanga Valley (4,035 meters).
