Salinas Lagoon Adventure - Full Day

The trails around the Misti volcano lead us to the Laguna de Salinas, where the salty waters mingle with the mountains. And with the pleasant company of llamas and alpacas.
Our itinerary begins with pick-up from your hotel in Arequipa between 6:00 and 6:30 am, to start the journey to the Salinas Lagoon, located on the edge of the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve. En route, we will stop in Chiguata, a picturesque local village, to enjoy a continental breakfast including juice, mate or coffee, cereal and toast. We will immerse ourselves in nature to explore the flora and fauna of the Arequipa region surrounding the Salinas Lagoon, with breathtaking views of the Misti volcano, one of the 10 active volcanoes in the area. During the tour, we will admire an Andean forest composed of trees and bushes, known as queñuales in this area. When we arrive at the Laguna de Salinas, we will find a landscape of white tones, either because of its dryness and if there is water we will be able to get close to see the large amount of salt that accumulates. Did you know that it is the only place where you can see three species of flamingos? In addition, we will be accompanied by llamas and alpacas as we explore the area around the lake, including the Lojen volcano area and some hot springs. After the hike, you will have free time for lunch before returning to Arequipa. Return to your respective hotels is scheduled around 16:30.
