Start with a Te Rā Guided Experience by offering a leading cultural performance in a beautifully carved meeting house, Te Aronui a Rua. It will include a Pōhiri (Traditional Māori Welcome), Waiata (Song), Mōteatea (traditional chant), Poi, and Haka.
Next, enjoy a Christmas Buffet Lunch. Then, explore the geothermal landscape of Waimangu at your own pace on a self-guided walk or hike. Discover the world’s youngest geothermal site with lush valleys, native flora and fauna, hot springs, and more.
Take a moderate downhill and flat walk with steps up to Inferno Crater. Suitable for most levels of fitness, enjoy panoramas over the valley, the Southern Crater, regenerating forest, Frying Pan Lake, Cathedral Rocks, rare plants, hot springs, Inferno Crater Lake, Silica Terraces, and stalactites.
