8 Day Tibet Lhasa tour with Everest Base Camp Hike

This 8 day Tibet Lhasa tour including a hike to the Everest Base Camp package is a great fit for a family looking for a short yet interesting getaway.
Day 1  Kathmandu (1,300m) /China – Lhasa (3,650m), accommodation at a hotel:

Fly  for 1 hour to Lhasa crossing over the highest Himalayan ranges of the world, or arrive via mainland China to Lhasa. Transfer and check-in to your hotel. Take the time to rest and acclimatize.

Day 2 to 3 in Lhasa, accommodation at a hotel:

Spend two full days seeing the sights of Lhasa including Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Bazaar, Potala Palace and the Sera and Drepung monasteries. 

Day 4 Lhasa to Xigatse via Gyantse, accommodation at a hotel:

Drive to Shigatse via Gyantse and Yamdroktso. Along the way visit Yamdroktso, Phalkhor and Khumbub stupa in Gyantse. Afterwards, continue the drive to Shigatse.

Day 5 Shigatse to Ronbuk via Shegar, accommodation at a guest house:

Enjoy the scenic drive to Xegar. Have a rest here before driving further on a bumpy road to Runbok. This trip may be a little bit tiring, but the beautiful scenery makes it worthwhile. 

Day 6: Hike to Everest Base Camp accommodation at guest house:
Start your hike to the Everest base camp in the early morning. Spend a couple of hours hiking, then explore around the base camp before driving back to Shegar.  You may use a horse craft if you cannot walk to the base camp. If time permits, the day might also include a drive to Shigatse.

Day 7: Shigatse to Lhasa (341 KM), accommodation at a hotel.

Visit Tashilomphu Monastery and explore Shigatse before driving back to Lhasa. 

Day 8: Transportation to the airport or train station.
