Begin this walking tour, traveling back in time through Mexican gastronomy on a terrace overlooking the Templo Mayor, the main temple of the Mexica (Aztec) culture where you will taste insects on corn with beans to learn why this source of protein was present in Mesoamerican gastronomy during pre-Hispanic times.
Afterwards, you will stop by an atole to taste a drink that is almost preserved as it was in pre-Hispanic times and discover the flavors that began to be created and mixed during the colony.
In a candy store from 1874, preserved as it was at that time, you will taste cookies and sweets made with original recipes that go from the colony to the beginning of the 20th century.
Throughout the tour you will visit different restaurants and places like, for example, the first synagogue to talk about the Jewish influence in the city or the old house of President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, today transformed into a restaurant, where you will taste chiles rellenos as an example of what was eaten in the early 19th century, after the Independence, you will also learn about the legend of the creation of Chile en Nogada.
We will travel to the Porfirian times in Mexico at the end of the 19th century to visit a place preserved as it was at that time to learn about the history of two French sisters who started this business near the old National Theater where you will see photos of how the street looked like at that time, while you taste the French influence mixed with Mexican gastronomy with some snails in chipotle sauce.
