Ijoukak is situated on the high atlas mountains above the meeting points of the Agoundis and Nfis valleys, and offers an alternative, less trodden trekking route up to Jebel Toubkal. The village is a busy tea and tagine stop between Marrakech and Taroudannt. The Tin Mal Mosque is about 8km (5 miles) southwest from Ijoukak, Tinmels mosque was built in 1153 by Abdel Moumen, the founder of the Almouhad dynasty, in memory of Mahdi Ibn Toumart
Departure by car from Marrakech around 8h45am in the morning drive south up the Moulay Brahim Gorges, Asni weekly market every saturday then Ouirgane to the Marigha traditional salt mines that are still in use. Continue driving past the Ouirgane dam and the N’Fiss Gorge. You will also pass several villages that have a Tuesday market Tahanouat .
