The tour will begin with pick-up at your hotel/home within Nairobi at 9:30 am. We'll take you to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, where you can stroll through the small center in an open space surrounded by rope fencing from 11am to 12pm . The smallest elephant trotted out of the bushes to greet the keeper, who stood ready with a giant milk bottle. For the next 10 to 15 minutes, you can watch each little one suck and gargle milk. When they're done, there's water to play with and handlers to nudge and cuddle. When you can watch them play and take photos. You can find out how old they were when they arrived at the orphanage, where they were rescued from and what got them into trouble. The most common causes of orphanhood are: mother poaching, falling into a well, and human-wildlife conflict. Once the youngest children are fed they are taken back to the bush and then it is the turn of the 2-3 year olds. Some of them can feed themselves and some are still fed by keepers. It's so cute to watch them put their giant bottles in their suitcases, close their eyes with joy, and quickly drink gallons of milk.
