Explore the beautiful South Coast of Iceland on a private tour from Reykjavik. See the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, and Dyrhólaey.

Start your day at 9 AM with a pick-up from your hotel in Reykjavik and head to the South Coast. As you leave Reykjavik, enjoy stunning views of the Westman Islands in the distance and the Reykjanes Peninsula with its dramatic landscapes. Keep an eye out for the rugged mountains and unique rock formations along the way.

Seljalandsfoss Waterfall
Stop at the Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, a spectacular waterfall that plunges 60 meters over a cliff. Walk behind the waterfall for a truly immersive experience. Remember to wear a waterproof jacket, as you’ll get splashed.

Skógafoss Waterfall
Next, visit the Skógafoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s largest and most beautiful waterfalls, and one of few waterfalls that can be viewed from the top. Admire the dramatic 60-meter drop and the lush surroundings. Skógafoss is frequently referred to as a “unique waterfall” because the waterfall comes directly from two glaciers nearby – Eyjafjallajökull & Mýrdalsjökull. Eventually, all this water ends in the North Atlantic Ocean.

Lunch
After enjoying the breathtaking sights at Skógafoss, it’s time for lunch! Here are a few options nearby:
Skógafoss Bistro Bar: A cozy spot close to the waterfall, offering traditional Icelandic dishes and local specialties.
Vik: If you drive a bit further (about 30 minutes), the town of Vik has several cafes and restaurants

Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
See the Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, famous for its unique black sands, dramatic rock formations, and powerful waves.
The beach’s striking black sand is made of volcanic ash and creates a stunning contrast against the white foam of the ocean waves. See the Reynisdrangar Sea Stacks rise from the ocean just offshore. According to legend, they are the remains of trolls who were turned to stone by the sunlight.
The cliffs surrounding the beach are lined with fascinating basalt columns, formed by volcanic activity. They create a dramatic backdrop and are great for photography. Be cautious of the powerful waves known as “sneaker waves,” which can be dangerous. Always stay a safe distance from the water’s edge.

Dyrhólaey
Continue to Dyrhólaey, a promontory offering breathtaking views of the coastline, Reynisfjara, and the Reynisdrangar sea stacks. Walk through the natural rock arch that creates a dramatic landscape and is a fantastic spot for photos.
Dyrhólaey is a popular nesting site for puffins and other seabirds, especially during the summer months. There’s a historic lighthouse at the top of the promontory, adding to the charm of the area. It’s a great spot to take photos and enjoy the views.

Back to Reykjavik.
We will then start heading back to Reykjavik and are expected to arrive around 8 pm, though this may be subject to change depending on weather and road conditions
