Join a guided city tour of Accra, the capital of Ghana. First stop is Black Star Square, where you will learn about Ghana's fight for independence. Also known as Independence Square, this square boasts three monuments, and is the primary site for the nation's public gatherings, national festivals, and Independence Day parades.
Next, head to the vibrant township of Osu for a visit to the Osu Castle. Also known as the Christiansborg Castle, this 17th-century castle was converted into a Presidential Museum in 2017. Occupied by the Portuguese through the 17th-century, this ocean-front castle is now one of Ghana's most important heritage sites.
Continue to Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, a remarkable mausoleum dedicated to Ghana's first president. From here, visit the colonial-era James Town Light House and then venture to the bustling Makola Market. Being Accra's oldest commercial hub, Makola offers a wide range of products, from car parts to land snails.
After exploring Makola, you'll visit a nearby restaurant to have a typical local lunch. You will then be transferred back to your hotel.
