Begin your adventure with a pick-up from your hotel in Jarabacoa, Puerto Plata, Santo Domingo, or Samana. After a scenic drive through the Cordillera Central mountains, arrive at the adventure base in Jamao.

Once you reach the starting point in Jamao, meet your professional guides who will be with you throughout the day. Your guides will provide a detailed safety briefing and explain the equipment you’ll use for abseiling.

Next, embark on a short hike through the tropical rainforest, surrounded by lush vegetation and the sounds of nature. The hike takes about 30–40 minutes and offers spectacular views of the Dominican Alps. Along the way, your guide will point out interesting plants and wildlife native to the region.

As you reach Hongo Mágico Waterfall, be greeted by the sight of water cascading over the unique mushroom-shaped rock formation that gives the waterfall its name. After a few moments to take in the beauty and serenity of the location, it’s time to gear up for the main event – waterfall abseiling.

With your harness securely fastened, begin your 30-meter (98 feet) descent down the waterfall. Feel the rush of water as you carefully lower yourself down the rocky surface, using the ropes and techniques demonstrated by your guides.

Once you’ve completed your abseil, take some time to cool off and relax in the natural pool at the base of the waterfall. Enjoy some fresh tropical fruits, local snacks, and refreshing beverages while soaking in the natural beauty around you.

Begin your return hike through the rainforest, making your way back to the adventure base in Jarabacoa. After your adventure, some tour operators offer an optional lunch stop in Jamao. Enjoy a delicious Dominican-style meal, featuring fresh local ingredients like rice, beans, chicken, and plantains.

After lunch, board the bus or van for your return journey to your hotel. Enjoy the scenic drive as you pass through the rolling hills and mountains of Jamao.
