Experience a winter hike from Scharnitz via the Isarsteig trail to the Gleirschklamm gorge. Discover animal tracks in the snow and learn exciting facts about nature - accompanied by an experienced nature guide.
The meeting point is at 9:30 am in front of Innsbruck main station. Alternatively, you can join the group directly at the Nature Park Information Center in Scharnitz at 11:15 am. We start from Innsbruck with a picturesque train ride to Scharnitz, the gateway to the Karwendel. Our winter hike begins on the snow-covered Isarsteig trail, always along the glistening Isar.

I, Felix, am your guide, a nature guide in the Karwendel Nature Park for three years and an experienced mountain hiking guide. During the tour, we will discover animal tracks, learn more about the survival strategies of plants and animals in winter and immerse ourselves in the fascinating natural world. The entire hike is accompanied by an impressive mountain panorama and the calming sound of the Isar.

Our turning point is the beginning of the Gleirschklamm gorge. There I will tell you exciting facts about the history of wood drifting in this region. On the way back, we hike over the Gleirschhöhe and follow a forest path back to Scharnitz. In total, we cover 11 km and about 270 meters in altitude.

Depending on the day of the week, there is the opportunity to visit the free Holzerhüttenmuseum - Mondays before the tour, Thursdays after. The museum is closed in winter on all other days.

Our aim is to take the train back to Innsbruck at 17:03, where the tour ends at the main station.
