One of the most popular and popular beaches in the region, Piha is located directly west of Auckland, just beyond the Waitakere mountain ranges. Another common thing that adrenaline junkies do in Auckland is bungee jumping off the Auckland Harbour Bridge. The Oakland Zoo may be nearby, but Western Springs has many wild animals that you can watch for free. Auckland’s top tourist attractions include world-class museums and art galleries. Just outside Auckland is Raglan with a fantastic surf beach and a friendly, artsy community (with many great cafes). Take the coast-to-coast stroll, a 16-kilometer city walk that takes you through Auckland's many beautiful parks and key mountains. Visit the Arataka Visitor Center before embarking on one of the many hiking trails in the Waitakere Ridges. As for what I mentioned in Auckland, it is best to visit in the summer in New Zealand as you can enjoy the beautiful beaches, outdoor walks, and other great summer activities. A popular pastime is a wine tour of one of the most famous vineyards or a stay for a few days in an exquisite holiday villa and wine tasting during the island's hour. A surprisingly short walk takes you to the top of Auckland's tallest volcanic cone, Mount Eden. As you climb to the top of this volcanic peak, you will come face to face with breath-taking views. The highest volcano in Auckland is Mount Eden, the top of which can be climbed or cycled. Mount Eden is 196 meters high and is one of the best views in Auckland. Mount Eden is a dormant volcanic cone, a few miles south of downtown Auckland. This is a sacred place, so it is better to admire it from above instead of walking along it. The Auckland museum is housed in a historic building as a memorial to New Zealand’s fallen soldiers and is known for its unique collection of Maori and Pacific island treasures. Located in one of Auckland's most iconic buildings - a beautiful neoclassical temple - the museum's large collections and expansive galleries give you a glimpse of New Zealand's past. Exhibits display the natural history of the country, explore the cultural origins of New Zealand, and highlight the unique geological landscape of the region. Built in 1959, the 3,300-foot Auckland Harbour Bridge connects Auckland to the North Shore and is New Zealand's second longest road bridge. Located on Auckland's beautiful waterfront, Viaduct Harbour is one of the most popular places to eat and drink in Auckland. The small island of Tiritiri Matangi, located in Hauraki Bay, a short ferry ride from Auckland, is now a nature reserve that protects and preserves the natural habitat of many different endangered bird species. The island emerges from Hauraki Bay about 30 km northeast of Auckland. Rangitoto Island is a volcanic island located off the coast of central Auckland. Waiheke Island is one of several islands in Hauraki Bay that you might want to add to your Auckland sightseeing tour. Waiheke Island is a popular day trip from Auckland and amazingly easy to reach by ferry. Kariotakhi Beach is another fantastic black sand surfing beach in Auckland, albeit less well known. Shakespeare Park is a bit outside of downtown Auckland, but it is worth it for its stunning scenery, beautiful walks, and nearby beaches. Even if you only have one day in Auckland, be sure to visit the Sky Tower.
