Embark on a 7-day tour of Bhutan from Kathmandu. Visit the iconic sites of Kathmandu, fly to Paro, and explore the capital of Bhutan, Thimphu. Visit the Punakha Dzong, hike to the Tiger's Nest Monastery, and explore the Rinpung Dzong.
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Arrive in Kathmandu and visit iconic sites such as Swayambhunath or ‘Monkey Temple’ and Boudhanath Stupa. Collect your travel documents and gear up for the trip ahead. In the evening, have a traditional Nepali dinner and retire to bed in anticipation of an early flight.
Day 2: Fly from Kathmandu to Paro, Bhutan
Take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Paro. From rising above the mountains toward Bhutan, savor the serenity of the Kingdom. Enjoy spectacular views of the Himalayas on arrival. Transfer to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital. Visit Tashichho Dzong, a beautiful fortress that houses most of the Bhutanese government.
Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha
After breakfast, leave for Punakha, which takes approximately 3 hours. At Dochula Pass, enjoy breathtaking mountain views and visit the 108 chortens. Visit Punakha Dzong with its magnificent architecture and historic significance. Enjoy an optional rafting experience in the Pho Chhu River, according to the weather condition.
Day 4: Punakha to Paro
Hike to Chimi Lhakhang, a fertility temple, and an unusual cultural experience. Drive back to Paro. Explore Paro town, come across the local markets and the streets.
Day 5: Tiger's Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang)
Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang) at 3,120 meters. Lunch will be served at the cafeteria of the monastery, which also offers panoramic views. Return to Paro and spend your evening relaxation time at your hotel or take a stroll around the town.
Day 6: Paro Cultural Experience
Visit Rinpung Dzong, a historical fortress that represents a masterpiece of Bhutanese architectural design. Enrich yourself about the rich history, art, and culture of Bhutan at the National Museum of Bhutan. Interact with locals and take a feel of traditional Bhutanese hospitality. Enjoy a delicious Bhutanese dinner, reminiscing over your fantastic journey.
Day 7: Departure from Paro to Kathmandu
Transfer to Paro International Airport and fly back to Kathmandu. If time permits, explore more of Kathmandu’s cultural attractions or go shopping for souvenirs. Finally, conclude the tour to the land of the dragons, Bhutan, with sweet memories.
