Enjoy the nature of the Laurissilva Forest.
The Rabaçal Forestry Station, in the Paúl da Serra region, is the starting point for our walk that gives access to Levada do Risco and also to Levada Nova do Rabaçal. With a moderate degree of difficulty, the walk has a length of 11 km.
First, we follow Levada do Risco to the waterfall with the same name and then go down to continue our walk on Levada Nova do Rabaçal, which takes us to the lake at 25 Fontes, which is named after the various waterfalls. that exist there. The path crosses the indigenous and endemic flora of Madeira Island, especially the high altitude vegetation, where we can observe indescribable views over this protected area. The return to the south coast of the island is made through the Cavaleiro tunnel (about 800 m long).
