Description
Experience the natural beauty of the Scottish Highlands on a full-day mini-coach tour to the stunning Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Step back in time at Stirling Castle and sample The Water of Life at the Deanston Whisky Distillery.
Head out from Edinburgh’s historic Royal Mile for a drive along the Forth Valley to Stirling Castle. On the way you'll stop to see the spectacular Kelpies, which are 30-foot-high metal horse sculptures erected at the entrance to the Forth and Clyde Canal.
Arrive at Stirling Castle and have 90 minutes to tour the castle’s great halls, dungeons and narrow wynds or visit Stirling's Old Town, before you continue on to the Highlands.
Experience the Mountains, Lochs and Glens of the beautiful Trossachs, and see Loch Lomond, considered by many to be the bonniest in Scotland. At Balmaha you can take a leisurely stroll along the bonny banks of Loch Lomond. If you’re feeling energetic, take the high level millennium path for spectacular views across the whole expanse of the Loch.
After lunch in the village of Aberfoyle, you'll take a short nature/fores walk to see the Little Fawn waterfall, before stopping to see some Scottish Highland cattle. Visit Loch Katrine, stepping into Sir Walter Scott’s poem, The Lady of the Lake, inspired by this beautiful place.
Afternoon Option 1:
Arrive at Deanston Distillery, located on the banks of the beautiful River Teith. Take a 45-minute tour of the working distillery. Experience the whisky-making process from beginning to end, and learn why Scotch is such a world-renowned spirit. The tour finishes with an opportunity to taste the whisky.
Afternoon Option 2:
Your other option is to visit the nearby Doune Castle, dating from the 14th century, and a filming location for Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Game of Thrones and Outlander. You'll have 45 minutes to tour the castle if you'd prefer this option to the Whisky Distillery Tour.
Depart Deanston Distillery/Doune Castle for the trip back to Edinburgh, arriving 18:30.
