07:30: Your guide and car will be waiting for you at your hotel in the central area of Hue to take you to the Vietnam Demilitarized Zone in Quang Tri province. Get ready to kick off the Tour Hue.
Places to visit:
- Horror Highway: May 1, 1972, is a day etched in the memories of the people in Quang Tri and Thua Thien provinces due to the tragic events on Vietnam Highway 1, also known as the Horror Highway. Thousands of civilians, including the elderly, women, children, and numerous soldiers, lost their lives in the artillery and infantry attacks.
- Long Hung Church: A rare surviving building in Quang Tri town from the "Fire Summer" or Eastern Offensive in 1972. It is a National Relic in Quang Tri Vietnam – BA5453.
- Quang Tri Ancient Citadel: Witness to intense battles during the anti-American resistance war in 1972. Despite being heavily bombed by the US army during the 81-day conflict, the citadel stands as a symbol of the immortal victories of the Vietnamese army and people, educating the youth on the nation's revolutionary tradition and patriotism.
- Dakrong Bridge: Known as the starting point of the Ho Chi Minh Trail network, this bridge was a key strategic location during the Vietnam War. Despite facing numerous attacks, it now stands as a grand suspension bridge, a testament to resilience.
- Along the way, you will have the opportunity to visit a Paco minority village.
- Ta Con Airport: Transformed into the Khe Sanh Combat Base Museum, showcasing a collection of captured U.S. tanks and aircraft destroyed during the Battle of Khe Sanh. The museum's records indicate that 197 U.S. planes were either shot down or captured during the 170-day battle.
