Depart from Saigon to Vung Tau city at 8 AM in an air-conditioned tourist bus. Arrive at 10:30 AM and enjoy free time at Thuy Van beach, one of the nicest beaches in Vietnam with fine sands, white waves, and a shore that runs for almost 10 km. Stop for an authentic Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, visit the Jesus Christ Statue by walking up 847 steps. Considered one of the tallest statues of Christ in Asia, its outstretched arms span a little over 18.4 meters. The adventurous are welcome to climb to the top of inside Christ' arms and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of Vung Tau city. Next head to Thang Tam Temple (Whale Temple). The temple displays the bones which came to symbolize the protector deity of the coast. Now, each time a carcass of a whale washes ashore, the bones are ceremonially hauled to the mausoleum.
Discover Vung Tau's nicest colonial-era mansion, Bach Dinh which was built as a retreat for the French Governor of Indochina at the beginning of the 20th-century. Continue on to Cape Nghinh Phong which boasts unobstructed views of Vung Tau City and the East Sea. At 5 PM drive back to Ho Chi Minh City and take a short break at Long Thanh Cow Milk Rest-stop for a souvenir.
