Soon after that, we enjoy a scenic drive over Hai Van pass, the most beautiful coastal road in Vietnam, featured in the special episode of BBC's Top Gear show in 2008. The pass is an amazing place to admire panoramic views of white-sand beaches underneath, Da Nang city, Monkey Mountain, centuries-old Leprosy Colony,... With winding mountain roads and hairpin bends, Hai Van Pass invites travelers to admire its natural beauty and history.
After Hai Van pass, we reach Marble Mountain, a cluster of five marble and limestone peaks, south of Da Nang city in Vietnam. The five mountains are named after the five elements: Water, Fire, Metal, Earth and Wood. All of the mountains have cave entrances and numerous tunnels. You will also have the opportunity to climb to the summit of Water mountain. Several Buddhist sanctuaries can also be found within the mountains, making this a famous tourist destination and one that should not be missed. After that, we will stop by at a 500-year-old sculpture village to view an amazing statues made out of marble at the foot of the mountain.
After lunch, we will continue our journey, heading to Hoi An ancient town, a HERITAGE SITE that was regconized by Unesco in 1999. The city is fascinating with small alleys where local life tucks in. The streets are so colorful with lanterns and flowers. The unique architecture here combines elements of Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese and French colonial styles.
