Description
Our time on Skye will be spent away from the crowds, exploring the beautiful Sleat Peninsula, returning to the mainland, if time allows, via the Glenelg ferry.
Our Isle of Skye tour starts with a journey through many majestic landscapes.
Travelling the Great Glen alongside Loch Ness, we’ll head north west at Invermoriston, passing the Five Sisters of Kintail before descending through the site of The Battle of Glenshiel towards Loch Duich and our first glimpse of the Atlantic West Coast.
We’ll take time for a visit to the famous Eilean Donan Castle before heading over the Skye Bridge. Following the main road for about 10 minutes we'll turn left to head south on the Sleat peninsula. Discover the perfect anchorage at Isle Oronasay and their pretty wee whisky & cashmere shops and gallery. Continuing south to Torabhaig distillery we can enjoy a whisky tasting, or a tour of the distillery (pre-booking required for the tour). Passing through Armadale we continue south with unparalleled views across to the magnificent beaches at Arisaig and Morar, the mysterious Lochs Nevis and Hourne and the remote mountainous wilderness beyond. As we approach the end of the road the dramatic Isles of Eigg and Rum come into view before the opportunity to visit Aird Old Church gallery. On our return to Armadale we can either visit the famous castle and gardens or take the wee road over to the west coast of Sleat to enjoy the beach at Toskavaig and some views of the incredible Black Cuillin mountains.
If time allows, we can take the Glenelg ferry back to the mainland, or head across the Skye bridge and then back towards Inverness.
