Description
Discover the hometown of William Shakespeare on a day trip from Cambridge. Visit the medieval market town of Stratford-upon-Avon and explore the picturesque Cotswolds villages and countryside.
We depart from central Cambridge at 8 AM for a trip back into old England. First, we visit William Shakespeare's hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon, an old medieval market town in the heart of England. It's a small town with numerous old wood-framed buildings that have survived from Shakespeare's day.
Your guide will take you outside the places where the young Shakespeare grew up, his birthplace and school, other buildings associated with his family, and to his final resting place inside Holy Trinity Church. After the tour, why not enter his birthplace, explore the picturesque parkland by the river, visit the Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre, or have lunch in the town. Alternatively, buy some lunch and eat as you travel into The Cotswolds nearby.
A warm, sunny summer's afternoon in a quiet, backwater Cotswolds village offers a short glimpse of paradise. It's no different in winter either! If you ever wanted to experience chocolate box houses in a picture-perfect landscape, this is for you.
When the sun shines, the limestone houses radiate a honey-colored warmth and slumbering tranquility. The rolling green fields of puffy white sheep are the final flourish. Your guide will reveal the history and charm of the landscape as you pass through verdant farmland, quaint old villages, and wooded valleys.
Expect to stop at viewpoints and to wander through villages, and come prepared to take a simple walk on country lanes through the countryside. Late afternoon, we wave goodbye to The Cotswolds and head back home to Cambridge. Enjoy some peaceful reflection as we aim to be back home in Cambridge by 8 PM.
