Embark on a 3-day safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park from Kampala. Enjoy game drives, a boat cruise, and a chimpanzee trek in the Kalinzu Forest Reserve.
Day 1: Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Depart Kampala in the morning after breakfast and travel westwards through Uganda’s beautiful green countryside to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey will take 6-7 hours with stopovers at areas of tourist attraction such as the Royal Drum makers’ village and the Equator for an opportunity to stand in two hemispheres at the same time.
Continue through the savannah grasslands with lots of banana plantations and several herds of local long-horned Ankole cattle endemic to this part of the country. Arrive at Queen Elizabeth National Park in the evening and check into your lodge. Later, go for an evening game drive to spot the animals in their natural habitats.
Expect to see the famous Big Five; elephants, leopards, buffalos, lions, bush bucks, kobs, giant forest hog, hyenas, antelopes, waterbucks as well as birds. Return for dinner and your overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise
Set off early at about 6:30 AM for a second game drive to the Ishasha Sector, home to the famous tree-climbing lions, which is a fascinating experience to many tourists. Queen Elizabeth National Park's diverse ecosystem of grassy plains, tropical forests, rivers, swamps, lakes, and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife.
Return for breakfast and relax until lunch. In the afternoon, take a launch cruise along the amazing Kazinga Channel to see, at close range, some water animals including hippos, buffalos, crocodiles, and elephants bathing on the channel banks. There is also a variety of bird species on the water banks especially the famous pelican and jacana.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe
Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and head to Kalinzu Forest Reserve for an up to 4-hour chimpanzee trekking with a tracker and guide. The Forest Reserve is home to 6 groups of chimps, comprising of over 300 individuals.
Please bring suitable closed walking boots and long trousers. Afterwards, transfer back to Entebbe.
