The range spans approximately 110 kilometers and covers an area of 4,800 square kilometers, showcasing diverse landscapes from afro-alpine moorland to tropical forests. Rich in biodiversity, the Rwenzoris are home to diverse flora and fauna, including endemic bird species and large mammals like elephants and chimpanzees. Day 1: Arrival in Uganda.
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to your accommodation in Entebbe or Kampala.
Day 2: Entebbe/Kampala to Kasese.
Depart for Kasese, the gateway to the Rwenzori Mountains.
Check into your accommodation and prepare for the trek.
Day 3: Kasese to Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Camp (2,652m).
Register at the Rwenzori Mountains National Park headquarters.
Begin the trek to Nyabitaba Camp, passing through montane forest and bamboo zones.
Day 4: Nyabitaba Camp to John Matte Camp (3,414m).
Trek through the Afro-montane forest and ascend steeply to John Matte Camp.
Day 5: John Matte Camp to Bujuku Camp (3,977m).
Ascend through the giant heather zone, passing by Bigo Bog and Lake Bujuku.
Arrive at Bujuku Camp and enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Baker and Mount Stanley.
Day 6: Bujuku Camp to Elena Hut (4,541m).
Trek to Elena Hut, the highest camp on the Rwenzori Mountains.
Prepare for the summit attempt.
Day 7: Summit Attempt - Margherita Peak (5,109m).
Begin the summit attempt before dawn, crossing snow and ice slopes.
Reach the summit of Margherita Peak and descend back to Elena Hut.
Day 8: Elena Hut to Nyabitaba Camp.
Descend back to Nyabitaba Camp, celebrating the completion of the trek.
Day 9: Nyabitaba Camp to Nyakalengija to Kasese, Departure.
Descend to Nyakalengija and meet your transport.
Drive back to Kasese and then to Entebbe/Kampala for departure.
Your adventure concludes with memories of conquering Margherita Peak and experiencing the rugged beauty of the Rwenzori Mountains.
