Description
Discover this spectacular UNESCO-listed region of rock formations and cave villages. Visit the Goreme Open Air Museum and try making your own pottery in Avanos.
Take in the picturesque panoramic views from Esentepe, continue on to the underground settlement of Kaymakli, and stop by the highest point in Cappadocia, Uchisar Castle, a natural rock hill which was used as a fortress during the Roman periods. Grab your camera for photos of the Pigeon Valley before continuing to Goreme Open Air Museum, once the monastery settlement of the first Christians in Cappadocia.
Delight in a tasty lunch served in an authentic cave restaurant in Avanos and learn about its history as a pottery village with a pottery demonstration at a family-run workshop. In Pashabagi, you can see the hermit cells and churches built by the monks. Drive on to Devrent Valley, witness the most surreal landscape in the region, with “fairy chimneys,” where the family of fairies are waiting to greet you.
