Goreme Open Air Museum: Full-Day Tour Standard Option

Our first stop in the morning will be a visit to the Devrent Valley to see its unusual rock formations. The formations here are a result of thousands of years of erosion, which has formed a lunar-like landscape. There are small “fairy” chimneys throughout the valley, as well as many rocks that are shaped like animals, forming a natural sculpture zoo. You’ll marvel at the color varieties of the fairy chimneys, ranging from white and yellow, to gray, pink and black.

After we leave the Devrent Valley, we will continue on in air-conditioned comfort to Pasabagi, which is characterized by remarkable earth pillars that stand in the middle of a vineyard. Pasabagi is also known as Monks Valley.

We’ll stop for lunch in Avanos, which is included in your tour package. Our next stop will be the main feature of our excursion - the Goreme Open-Air Museum. There are more than 10 cave churches in the Goreme Open Air Museum, which along with dwellings, rectories a religious school form a large complex that was carved out of a ring-shaped rock formation.

As we continue on our tour, your guide will tell you about the magnificent landscape of Esentepe, which was created by solidified streams of lava combined with ash and tuff stone, and dates from the Neocene period.

Our final stop will be at the hilltop Castle of Uchisar for sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and to see the interconnected galleries, steps and tunnels of this historic structure. At the end of the tour we will drop you off at your hotel in Bodrum.
