Explore the nature of Chiang Mai by trekking in the lush Doi Suthep area. The trip starts with a visit to a market and Doi Suthep Temple. Trek downhill for about two hours, and learn about flora and fauna before enjoying a packed lunch at a waterfall.
After a 7:30 AM pick-up from your hotel, drive to Doi Suthep – Pui National Park. Start by visiting local Ton Payom market to taste produce and buy food for your packed lunch. Then it's off to visit Doi Suthep Temple and its compound.
Now it's time to head to the trekking part of the trip. Start at the Forestry Camp and trek downhill of the Doi Suthep area. Pass small waterfalls, walk through lush green forest and enjoy a view point of Chiang Mai.
Doi Suthep – Pui is a part of Thanon Thong Chai Range. The forest is a mixture between evergreen forest (1,000 meter above the sea level) and mixed deciduous-evergreen forest. A variety of the animals and birds species can be found such as oaks, dipterrocarps, magnolia, crocodile salamander, wild boar, minivets and eagles. Take time out to enjoy your lunch at Monthatarn Waterfall before arriving back in Chiang Mai at mid-afternoon.
