Day 1: Moshi to Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Start your adventure early in Moshi with a scenic drive to Marangu Gate, which takes about an hour (45 km). When you arrive at the gate, you'll complete the necessary registration before you begin your hike. The trek from Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut covers a distance of approximately 8 km and takes around 4-5 hours. The trail leads you through the lush rainforest, with giant ferns, ancient trees, and a variety of wildlife. As you ascend, enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest, taking breaks to capture the beauty of your surroundings. By late afternoon, you will reach Mandara Hut, located at an altitude of 2,700 meters (8,858 feet). Here, you’ll settle in for the night, enjoying a warm meal and resting up for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2: Mandara Hut to Maundi Crater to Moshi
After breakfast at Mandara Hut, start your trek towards Maundi Crater, a distance of about 2 km. The hike to the crater takes around 1 hour and offers stunning views of Kenya and Northern Tanzania. After exploring Maundi Crater, you’ll begin your descent back through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, a trek of approximately 8 km that takes around 3-4 hours. Upon reaching Marangu Gate, you will be met by your driver for the journey back to Moshi, about an hour's drive. Arriving in Moshi in the late afternoon, you will have completed an exhilarating two-day adventure on Kilimanjaro's Marangu Route, experiencing both the ascent through diverse ecosystems and the scenic descent.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
